Guwahati: In a pre-dawn operation at Ukiem near Guwahati along the Assam-Meghalaya border, security forces recovered TNT blocks or explosive device in use for the first time in Assam.
It can be used for large scale terror strikes.
Each block can impact an area of around 20 metres. Though TNT has been used earlier but always in the form of improvised explosive device (IED).
These blocks along with battery and wire fuses were recovered after the arrest of an ULFA cadre Mintu Rabha.
The explosive may not have been meant for Independence Day strikes since radio intercepts indicate that armed groups are planning to strike in days after the I-Day.
