After hours spent searching a ship called the MV Garland, a team of experts declared the ship does not have radioactive cargo.
In the morning, an anonymous caller warned port officials to inspect the ship for dangerous material. Officials from Customs, the Coast Guard, and the Kalpakkam nuclear plant got to work immediately.
The Garland set sail from Vishakhapatnam and is registered in Malta. It docked at Chennai on Tuesday.
