Mumbai: A father and son were found hanging from the same tree near their village in the drought-hit Yavatmal district in Maharashtra on Tuesday.
Both were farmers and had suffered losses for three years at a stretch because of poor rain.
They owned five acres of land and rented 14 more to sow soya bean and other crop.
Villagers say the family was desperately poor and had run out of money for the treatment of the son, Anil Mudholkar, who was believed to have a mental condition.
