Fifty farmers from Badalpur village - the hometown of UP Chief Minister Mayawati - have moved the Allahabad high court challenging the land acquisition of 230 hectares of land in the village.
The farmers claim that some farmers were favoured by the state government and given prime land along the national highway, while others had to settle for much less compensation. They also say that land was acquired from them for planned development but was subsequently sold to private developers and builders.
The UP government has acquired 300 hectares of land in Badalpur village. At the time, the Greater Noida Authority had said the land was being acquired for a factory. But so far no work has started till now.
