New Delhi: Former Defence Minister George Fernandes was at the centre of a feud between his family and his long-time associate Jaya Jaitley and the matter has reached the police.

As Fernandes lay in a hospital undergoing treatment, his son Sean wrote to the police seeking security for his family alleging threat from certain "vested interests" to the leader.

He also requested the police to bar Jaya Jaitley from visiting their house.

Sean, along with his wife, young son and the senior leader's estranged wife Leila Kabir is staying at his father's official residence for the last one week.

George Fernandes' aide Anil Hegde said that immediately after the arrival of Sean and his wife here from
the US on January 2, Sean had issued a letter to neighbouring Tughlaq Road police station, seeking security for the entire family.

Hegdey said Sean mentioned in the letter that "vested interests" are eyeing George Fernandes' property "or whatever is left of it".

On Friday, Hegde alleged, some persons associated with Jaitley came to Fernandes' 3 Krishna Menon Marg residence and at the same time some JD (U) workers (who were in town to participate in anti-inflation demonstration organised by the party) came to meet the leader.
