Films beckon Chiranjeevi

Films beckon Chiranjeevi
Hyderabad:

Chiranjeevi turns 54 on Saturday. And as the actor-turned-politician reflects on his one year in politics, his film industrywallahs say they want him back on the silverscreen.

Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan was the last hero to share screen space with the megastar in `Magadheera' that has proved to be a runaway hit. Ram Charan wants his politician-father not to bid goodbye to films.

``As an actor, I would still like to see him on screen. I wish I can do more than just a minute role with him. I would love to do a full feature film with him."

The film industry would love that. After all, no other actor here can beat the megastar's draw at the box-office.

Producer Suresh Babu says: ``A producer will definitely want Chiranjeevi to do a film. A director will definitely want to direct Chiranjeevi. As a filmstar, he is still saleable. There is no doubt about that.''

But Chiranjeevi says films are not on his agenda right now.

``As on today, I don't think I will act.''

"No one can convince me,'' he replies to a question whether his son will be able to convince him.

In his three decades in films, Chiranjeevi has won several awards and accolades. The challenge for him now is to conquer the political Mt Everest, as in these elections, he ran out of oxygen long before he reached the summit.
