A fire broke out at a paying guest in north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar today
New Delhi: Over 35 women were rescued from a paying guest in north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar after a fire broke out in the building. Fire department officials said they are looking whether anyone is trapped.
The fire department said they got a call about the fire from Signature Apartment at 7.45 pm, following which they sent 20 fire trucks to control the blaze.
The fire has been completely extinguished. There were around 35 women and all are safe, officials said.
It seems the fire started from the electricity meter board near the staircase and spread to the upper floors of the three-storey building with a kitchen on the terrace.
Earlier, visuals from the site showed smoke and flames coming out from the ground floor.
Mukherjee Nagar is 3.5 km from Delhi University and is a hub of paying guest accommodation and coaching centres.
