New Delhi: It is not just the Presidents, Kings and other heads of State who have a busy schedule for the third India-Africa summit, currently underway in Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs has a detailed excursion planned out for the spouses of the visiting heads of State while diplomacy is being discussed at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.

First ladies from 17 African countries will get a taste of Africa, literally. Their programme has been divided into 3 categories: Classic, Substantive and Soft.

The day will begin at 10.30 am when they will be visiting the Akshardhaam Temple, followed by a trip to the cottage industries for shopping.

They will also interact with the 'Grannies from Africa' who have been in India since September 15, learning to build, repair and maintain solar panels. A project initiated by Barefoot College, an NGO in Rajasthan in association with Ministry of External Affairs trains illiterate women from rural Africa so they can generate electricity in their villages upon return.

The First Ladies will also be a part of a fashion show where the handlooms of Benaras will be a focus.

The theme of the Fashion show would be 'Threads of Benaras'. They will later attend a culinary class by MasterChef Kunal Kapoor followed by lunch.

The First Ladies will also accompany their husbands to the Presidential banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan hosted for the visiting African heads of state.
