Kochi: The Italian Ship, Enrica Lexie, whose guards killed two Indian fishermen, will remain docked at the Kochi Port till it gets a No Objection Certificate from the police.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Kochi police has seized four boxes of material from the vessel. The boxes, containing guns and documents, have been sealed and will be shifted to the Harbour Police Station. The material will be produced before the Kollam court on Monday.

The SIT began the search and ballistic examination of weapons onboard oil tanker Enrica Lexie in the presence of Italian experts who arrived on Saturday morning from Rome.

Italian naval guards Latore Massimiliano and Salvatore Girone were arrested for the killing of two Indian fishermen off Kollam coast on February 15.

"The case will be proceeded under the Indian law. Judiciary in the country is independent," Mr Antony told reporters.

"The incident of shooting down of two hapless fishermen off the coast of Kollam on February 15 was unfortunate and equally condemnable," he added.

The arrested Italian marines have been charged with murder under Section 302 of IPC.
