Five killed by speeding train in West Bengal
Kolkata: Five people were knocked down and killed by a train when they were crossing the tracks at Santragachi railway station in Howrah district today.

The speeding Ranchi-Howrah Intercity Express which was passing the station ran over five people who were crossing the tracks instead of using the overbridge at 2:27 pm, a South Eastern Railway spokesman told PTI.

Unconfirmed sources said that five persons were run over.

The spokesman said that inspite of repeated warnings not to cross the tracks at the station, most commuters did so instead of using the overbridge.
