Five people were killed in the Jammu region today when their taxi, plying on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, plunged into a deep gorge, police said.
A taxi went out of the driver's control and plunged into a deep gorge near Shaitani Nallah on Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban district today, a senior police officer told here.
"Five passengers were killed on the spot and three were critically injured," the officer said.
All the passengers on the vehicle were labourers and were not locals.
The strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway was thrown open for one-way traffic today after remaining closed for four consecutive days due to landslides.
