Bhubaneswar:
Flash floods have hit Orissa's Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts, following heavy rains. Over 40,000 people across 150 villages in Balasore are marooned.
According to reports in the local media, the water level is on a receding mode and the villages have been marooned because flood waters have been flowing over link roads.
The Basta Block in Balasore district has been the worst affected because of flooding in Jalaka river. Paddy crops have been submerged in some parts of the district, said reports.
Parts of Bhadrak, Koarput and Cuttack have also faced flash floods, however, the situation has been improving because heavy rains have stopped in the last 24 hours.
