Follow Gujarat model to improve country's management: Narendra Modi tells PM
Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today advised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to follow the state government's development model to improve the management of the country.

Referring to Gujarat Congress' aggressive 'disha badlo, dasha badlo' (change direction to change condition) campaign, Mr Modi said, "Lots of advertisements are coming up, spreading a miscampaign by a few, who want to change the disha and dasha of Gujarat".

"Gujarat has progressed at a very rapid pace and the Prime Minister should take up the 'disha' of Gujarat to change the 'dasha' of the country," Mr Modi said, speaking at a school girls' chess competition.

Yesterday, Mr Modi had slammed the Congress for what he called the country's mismanagement.

"People have been advising me that I should be holding election meeting instead of such chess competitions, when elections are three to four months away. But I think of the development of Gujarat and that is the reason I believe in organising such events," Mr Modi said.

"Chess develops minds, instills patience and removes stress. We have decided that more and more girls should play this game," Mr Modi said.

BJP veteran leader LK Advani, who skipped Parliament session for the function said, "Though parliament is going on, I have decided to attend the chess function organised by the Gujarat government".

"I would like to tell you that the scene where more than 3,950 women are participating in the chess game under one roof is very great and all its credit should go to chief minister Narendra Modi," Mr Advani said.

Five times World champion Vishwanathan Anand, who was also present at the function, said would give all his support to Gujarat government as it had determined to promote chess in the state.
