For Dinner With PM Modi at Chequers, David Cameron Keeps it Simple

At Chequers, the 16th century mansion in Buckinghamshire that serves as the British Prime Minister's country retreat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was served Indian vegetarian dishes at what was described as an "intimate dinner" with his host and UK counterpart David Cameron on Thursday evening.

There was an autumn salad of beets and roots, followed by a main course of Porcini Mushroom Pulao, Tarka Dal and Kachumba Salad and a Mango Pudding for dessert.

After a power-packed first day in London for PM Modi that included delegation-level talks, an address to British parliamentarians and a speech at the historic Guildhall, the two leaders got a chance to relax over the private dinner.

A similar menu is expected to be dished up by the royal chefs at Buckingham Palace, where Britain's Queen Elizabeth II will host PM Modi for lunch.
 "The Queen will receive the Prime Minister of the Republic of India and later hold a lunch for the Prime Minister at Buckingham Palace. The Prime Minister is in the United Kingdom on an official visit as a Guest of Government," a palace spokesperson said today.

PM Modi tweeted this morning:The Queen will greet PM Modi at the Grand Entrance of her London palace and they will then inspect items from the Royal Collection brought out specially for the Prime Minister's visit. It is not confirmed yet whether the Kohinoor diamond will be on display.

Soon after the private lunch, PM Modi will make his way to London's famous Wembley Stadium to address a 60,000-strong audience of members of the Indian community.  

Mr Cameron will accompany PM  Modi at the Wembley event, which will include a huge firework display and is expected to have a carnival atmosphere in the wake of Diwali celebrations.
