Kolkata: "Fata fati" and "darun" said a beaming Mamata Banerjee to describe what she calls an overwhelming response to the business summit that her government organised in Kolkata this week.
The West Bengal chief minister also used the words superb, excellent and fabulous. But the colloquial Bengali that she broke into best captured her upbeat mood.
"Its superb. "Fata-fati what we say. "Darun" what we say," said the 60-year-old, about the Bengal Global Business Summit where, she claims, her government has signed deals worth 2.43 lakh crore.
For good measure she added, "Its excellent. I think my first word is excellent, superb, fabulous. We are overwhelmed by the response of my industrial friends."
"Fatafati" and "darun" too mean fantastic in Bengali.
She expressed her delight to her finance minister Amit Mitra, who spearheaded the effort, saying, "Amitda, I am delighted to see the companies. They are all important and they are from all over the world, from the country, and local firms."
The two-day event, which ended today, drew nearly a 1000 delegates, from across India and 20 other countries.
Mr Mitra says he expects all the memoranda of understanding signed to fructify. He worked overtime to ensure big attendance.
The Bengal government launched the summit to attract much-needed investment to the state and says it will change the "negative perception" allegedly created by the media about the West Bengal.
It has dismissed comparisons with the mega Vibrant Gujarat Summit beginning across the country in Gandhinagar later this week, which is expected to be attended by more than 3000 delegates including some big names from global business.
"Gujarat's' biggest advantage is that the prime minister is from there," Ms Banerjee said.
