For Mamata Banerjee Swearing In, Bangladesh Sends Sari, Fish, Molasses

Mamata Banerjee had visited Bangladesh accompanying PM Modi in June last year.

Dhaka: Bangladesh has sent a special jamdani sari, 20 kg of hilsha fish and molasses for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee which will be presented to her by a senior minister at the swearing in ceremony on Friday.

Industries minister and senior leader of ruling Awami League Amir Hossain Amu will represent Bangladesh at the installation of Banerjee for the second term.

"We are sending her 20 kilograms of hilsha fish and our famous molasses of Jessore as a mark of greetings along with jamdani sari," junior minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam told mediapersons.

His comments came a day after foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali said Mr Amu would attend Ms Banerjee's swearing in ceremony.

Ms Banerjee is set to be return as the West Bengal chief minister on Friday after a landslide victory of her Trinamool Congress in the recent state elections.

Ms Banerjee had visited Bangladesh accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June last year.
