Dewas, Madhya Pradesh: Students of a school in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas are ecstatic as this Teacher's Day, two of their favorite teachers -- Babulal Bhati and Sanjay Joshi -- will be among the 343 teachers who will receive national awards from the President of India.

On Thursday, Mr Joshi, Mr Bhati and the other award-winning teachers were honoured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani. And today, they will receive the prestigious award from President Pranab Mukherjee.

Chandrawati Jadav, principal of the Utkrisht Vidalaya Shree Narayan Vidya Mandir, told NDTV," This year I had nominated teachers Sanjay Joshi and Babulal Bhati for the prestigious award as they are truly deserving. We are very happy that they have won the award, they truly deserve it."

Mr Bhati has been teaching mathematics for nearly 21 years; not even a single student of his has failed in the last 10 years.

Elated with the honour, he says, "I am very happy that I have received the award this year. I have been acknowledged for the year of efforts I have put in teaching students."

Mr Joshi has been a teacher for the last 25 years; in the last 12 years, all his students have passed with first class marks and even won several competitions.

"I did not choose the profession but it happened (to me). It was God's will and I decided to put in my 100 per cent. For the last 25 years I have been doing what a teacher should, and for that I have received the award. I am really humbled by the honour," he said.

The students are understandably overjoyed by the achievement of their two teachers.  One of them, Priyanka Mandloi, told NDTV, "Both Joshi sir and Bhati sir are our favorite teachers. The national award has made this Teacher's Day even more special for all of us".
