For Rajasthan Examinations, Candidates to Go Barefoot, Half-Sleeved

Rajasthan Administrative Services exam papers were leaked last year.

Jaipur: Unprecedented security measures are in place for the Rajasthan Administrative Services preliminary exams this year after the tests were cancelled last year last year because of a paper leak.

More than 4 lakh candidates will appear for this exam which will begin at 10 am on Saturday to be held in 1,232 centres in 33 districts across the state.

Signal jammers will be put in place at some exam centres to prevent cheating through mobile devices and Bluetooth headsets.

Students will not be allowed to enter the exam hall in shoes and socks, but have to wear either sandals or slippers.

As per the Supreme Court guidelines, students will also not be allowed to wear full sleeve shirts, and jeans. Women candidates have been advised to wear sarees and salwar kameezes while men have also been told to wear half-sleeved shirts. Suits and ties are a no-no.

Chairman of the Rajasthan State Public services commission Lalit K Pawar said, "Given the bitter experience with these exams in the recent past we are going to be very strict this time around."

"Women constables have also been deputed and apart from CCTV and jammers candidates may also be frisked before they enter the exam hall. Everybody has to wear half sleeves, no shoes and socks are allowed," he said.

About 17,000 invigilators and 7,000 police personnel have been put on duty. Flying squads will also conduct surprise checks to ensure Rajasthan's most prestigious exams go off without a hitch.
