New Delhi: A no-fly zone has been enforced in Delhi, covering a radius of nearly 300 km, for civilian aircraft during the Republic Day parade today, officials said.
The airspace over the capital will also be monitored by special radars, the officials added.
Anti-aircraft guns and light machine guns have been positioned at 10 strategic points along the route where the parade will take place.
India is hosting French President Francois Hollande who will inspect the Republic Day parade on Delhi's historic Rajpath along with President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Around 50,000 security personnel, including 15,000 from the paramilitary, have been deployed across the city.
The preparations come after a recent security review chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, where officials concluded there is a "very real" ISIS threat for Republic Day when President Hollande will officiate as the chief guest at the parade.
