Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh in Nepal on official visit

Kathmandu: Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh arrived in Kathmandu today on a two-day official visit to discuss key bilateral and regional issues with Nepal's top leadership.

"India is committed to working with the government and people of Nepal for a democratic, stable, peaceful and prosperous Nepal," Singh said on her arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport this afternoon.

"Our relations with Nepal will continue to be a matter of the highest priority."

Ms Singh will meet her Nepalese counterpart Arjun Bahadur Thapa and call on Minister for Foreign Affairs and Home Madhav Prasad Ghimire and other dignitaries tomorrow.

The Foreign Secretary will meet top leaders of major political parties including UCPN-Maoist chief Prachanda, Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal.

"I will be conveying to them the greetings and good wishes of our leadership and will use the opportunity to review progress in our multi-faceted bilateral relationship," she said.

Ms Singh will address the media at the airport tomorrow afternoon before wrapping up her visit.
