A foreign national studying in a prestigious educational institute in suburban Chembur was allegedly gangraped by six persons known to her, Mumbai police said on Wednesday.
Three persons have been arrested while three more allegedly involved in the crime were absconding, police said adding that the victim was taken to suburban Andheri by her six companions after they consumed alcohol in a bar in north-east Mumbai on Saturday night.
"The victim knew the six accused. They went to a beer bar in Govandi," Deputy Police Commissioner Dilip Sawant said.
"Subsequently, she was taken to a house in Andheri where, according to her, she was gangraped by the six," Sawant said.
He said the victim had approached police on Tuesday night with the complaint. Sawant declined to divulge the victim's nationality. He said further investigations were on.
