Bagaha : A forest employee was killed and another injured after being shot at by smugglers in the Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) area in Bihar's Bagaha police district, an official said today.
Armed smugglers fired at Fire Watchman Jitendra Mahto and Tiger Tracker Dharmdev Mahto last night in Jatashankar forest range when they had rushed to the VTR after being informed that a fire had broken out there, VTR Director Santosh Tiwari said.
Jitendra Mahto died on the way to a hospital, while Dharmdev Mahto was admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital, he said.
The forest guards and the district police were carrying out raids to nab the assailants, Mr Tiwari said.
