Sirsi: A forest officer in Northern Karnataka has died from the injuries he received from a group of tourists. MH Nayak was visiting a temple on May 6 when he saw he saw the group nearby, breaking the rules to feed wild crocodiles near a resort at Dandeli on the Kali river.
When he intervened, the tourists -a group of 20- allegedly assaulted him. His head was injured. He died in hospital early on Wednesday morning.

The police have registered a case and six people have been arrested. Conservationists in Karnataka have urged the government to conduct an urgent inquiry to identify the attackers.
