Former Air India Chief Russi Mody Dies

Mumbai: Russi Mody, former joint chairman of Air India and the erstwhile Indian Airlines and Chief of Tata Steel, died in Kolkata at the age of 95, an official said in Mumbai on Saturday.

Mr Mody breathed his last at his Kolkata residence on Friday.

Born in Mumbai on Jan 17, 1918, Mr Mody was a leading member of the Tata Group and served it in various capacities, later earning the sobriquet of India's "Steel Man".

He was appointed to head the airlines in 1993.
