New Delhi: The condition of former vice chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University Mushirul Hasan, who met with an accident on Saturday, continues to be critical.
"He is still critical and on ventilator support. He is under constant observation and monitoring by our team of experts," a statement issued by Apollo Hospital, where he is admitted, said on Monday evening.
The accident took place at around 11:30 am on Saturday. Mr Hasan, 67, was on his way to Mewat from Delhi along with two others, when the car they were travelling in had a head-on collision with a dumper.
The leading academician sustained head injuries and was operated upon by a team of neurosurgeons at the hospital.
Professor Hasan is a noted historian and has written extensively on the Partition of India, communalism, and the histories of Islam in south Asia.
He served as the vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University between 2004-2009.
