Jaipur:
A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court today extended the judicial custody of former Rajasthan Minister Babulal Nagar, arrested on charges of raping and assaulting a 35-year-old woman, till November 25.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (CBI cases) Mahendra Kumar Mehta extended Nagar's judicial custody till November 25 on the agency's plea that it required more time to complete the investigation, a defence counsel said.
Due to ill health, Nagar was not produced in the court.
Nagar was arrested on October 25 when he was called to appear for interrogation at Circuit House in Jaipur. He was remanded in CBI custody for three days, and then sent to 14-day judicial custody.
Police had booked Nagar on charges of raping and beating up the woman in September, after calling her to his official bungalow on the pretext of giving her a job.
The CBI on October 9 took over the probe from Rajasthan Police which had registered the case against Nagar, following which he resigned as the Minister of Dairy, Khadi and Rural Industries.
