Koraput: At least four Border Security Force personnel were killed today when Maoists blew up their vehicle with a landmine in Odisha's Koraput district, over 360 km from capital Bhubaneswar.
A convoy of three BSF vehicles with 18 personnel was on its way from Malkangiri to Vishakhapatnam on administrative work, when it was ambushed in the Koraput district bordering Andhra Pradesh.
One of the vehicles was blasted by a landmine embedded in the road, killing four personnel and injuring two others.
Maoists who were waiting higher up started firing at the convoy, triggering return fire from the BSF. The firing went on for hours. The Odisha police and paramilitary forces have now sent reinforcements.
