Kupwara: Four militants were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Keran sector near the Line of Control in Kashmir as they were trying to cross over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), a defence spokesman said today.
The four militants were killed during an operation launched by army in Keran sector of Kupwara district yesterday following a specific input about their movement in the area, the spokesman said.
The official said the militants opened fire at the army search parties late on Thursday night.
The identity of the slain militants was not immediately known, the spokesman said, adding that eight AK 47 rifles have been recovered from the scene of the encounter.
He said the encounter is still going on.
