Srinagar: Four militants and one soldier have been killed in a gunfight near the Line of Control in Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
Army said the encounter, which had started on Sunday morning in Kalaroos, is now over and it has recovered four Kalashnikov rifles from the dead militants. One soldier is injured.
A search operation is going on in the area, which is 95 kilometers away from Srinagar, for two other militants who are believed to have escaped.
Sources said the group of six militants had infiltrated into Kashmir valley recently from across the Line of Control.
The condition of both of the soldiers is said to be critical.
Meanwhile, in another encounter in Keran one soldier has been killed.
