Villapuram, Tamil Nadu : Four Irula tribal women have alleged that cops in Tamil Nadu raped them. The incident occurred in the Villapuram district in Tamil Nadu.
Two of the complainants are married, one is pregnant.
The women allege that police took them in for a theft enquiry and raped them.
Police officials have confirmed that the SP and the DIG of the area are rushing to the village where the incident took place. They have ordered a probe into the alleged rape. They say an FIR will be filed soon and they would investigate the case with an open mind. They would take stringent action against their men if the accusations were found to be true.
Police sources have also said that the husband of one of the women was a property offender and that the police had gone to the village to nab him and others. They suggested that the women's claims of rape could be a strategy to escape legal action.
