The driver of a school bus was arrested in West Bengal's Purulia district for allegedly attempting to rape a four-year-old child.
The girl, a student of a private school in Purulia's Madhukunda town, had been assaulted on her way home from school on Tuesday.
The matter came out when the girl complained of pain this morning.
When the bus came to pick up students, angry locals beat up the driver and ransacked the vehicle. He was garlanded with shoes and handed over to the police.
The student has been sent for medical examination.
A case has been registered by the police after the family filed a complaint.
