Jammu: Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire twice overnight by resorting to small arms firing and mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Poonch districts, drawing retaliation from the Army.
"Pakistani Rangers fired two burst of small arms and two mortar shells on posts along IB in RS Pura sector of Jammu district around 02:00 hours", a senior BSF officer said.
There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing and shelling, he said.
"In another ceasefire violation, the Pakistan army targeted Bhimber Gali (BG) sector of the LoC in Poonch district by resorting to small arms firing from 23:20 to 23:30 hours last night," a Defence Spokesman said today.
Indian troops responded appropriately, he said adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone.
There have been four ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in September.
On September 2, the Pakistan army targeted Krishna Ghati sector of the LoC in Poonch district and Indian troops responded appropriately and effectively.
On September 1, Pakistan troops had fired on a Forward Defence Location (FDL).
Eleven people were killed including two soldiers and over 30 injured in August this year in ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
There have been 57 violations of the border ceasefire agreement by Pakistan in August and over 250 ceasefire violations in the year so far.
