Patna:
Freedom fighter and veteran Gandhian, Acharya Rammurthy, died at a hospital in Patna on Thursday after protracted illness, hospital sources said. He was 89.
Rammurthy was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology about two-and-a-half-month back following complaints of chest pain and uneasiness, where he breathed his last on Thursday evening.
Besides being a staunch follower of Mahatma Gandhi and part of the freedom movement, Rammurthy was also a close associate of late Jayaprakash Narayan, a noted politician.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD president Lalu Prasad and leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly Rabri Devi condoled the death of Rammurthy.
