Adding to the woes of health officials, 13th case of H1N1 influenza has been confirmed in Andhra Pradesh taking the total number of those affected with this deadly disease in India to 31. A nine-year-old child who arrived from New Jersey on a British Airways flight has tested positive for swine flu.
Also, two more suspected cases of swine flu have been detected in Jalandhar and the samples have been sent to Delhi.
Jalandhar came on the swine flu map after seven high-school students of Guru Amardass Public School were admitted to Jalandhar Civil Hospital with flu symptoms. They had just returned from a two week trip to NASA.
One of the students got high fever when he got off at Delhi airport. He has tested positive for the N1H1 virus and had been quarantined there.
The Punjab Health Department has started monitoring all schools that took students abroad recently, especially Guru Amardass Public School from where 31 students went for this trip.
Earlier on Sunday, six new cases were reported from Bangalore, Hyderabad and a student from Jalandhar in Delhi.
