Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today said friendly ties with Pakistan was a must for strengthening the country.
"Friendly ties with Pakistan are needed if the country has to be made stronger though the ones who are at the helm in both the countries are not interested in this. People are fed up of continued enmity," Mr Yadav said during a programme at the party office in Lucknow.
The SP chief also stressed on setting up a "mahasangh" of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Giving an account of the programmes launched by the Samajwadi Party government in the state, Mr Yadav underlined the need for further development of villages so as to check exodus of people towards cities.
