Fuel crisis in J&K, 400 tankers on strike

Fuel crisis in J&K, 400 tankers on strike
Jammu: The Oil Tankers Association of Jammu and Kashmir has said that it will be stalling the supply of fuel for Jammu and the Valley.

The Association alleges that protestors in the Valley are beating their drivers. Around 400 tankers went on strike to protest against this.

Two months ago, the Oil Tankers Association had threatened to stop the supply to the Valley, but later backtracked after assurances of security by the state government.

"We have called the strike for the fourth time. Earlier, when our drivers were beaten up, we had a day-long strike and asked for security for our drivers," said Devinder Singh, General Secreatary Tankers Association.

"We were assured drivers would be protected but nothing happened. We've called an indefinite strike until the Chief Minister himself intervenes," he added.

While many petrol stations in Jammu are running out of fuel, Srinagar is less affected.
