New Delhi:
Ahead of the Left parties meeting in the Capital on Tuesday, West Bengal's CPI (M) leader Biman Bose made an appeal to non-Congress parties across the country to join them in the protest against the petroleum price hike.
The agenda for the Left parties meeting today will be to take a call on the course of action against the rise of petroleum prices.
"Since price hike of petro products is not a local issue, it's a national issue. As a result nationally Left parties, all non Congress, non BJP parties are having dialogue. And they are thinking in terms of giving a call for a nationwide strike on the issue," said Biman Bose. (Read: Statement by Left parties on the fuel price hike)
The government last week hiked prices of petrol by Rs 3.50 a litre and diesel by Rs 2 a litre, raised LPG by Rs 35 a cylinder and the poor man's cooking fuel kerosene by Rs 3 a litre.
Petrol price has been decontrolled and hike in rates will now be linked to market prices.
