Lucknow: In the wake of rising swine flu cases in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government today asked people not to panic and that the government has sufficient medicines and is fully equipped to deal with the disease.
"There is no need to panic due to swine flu. Those who are saying hundreds have died due to the disease are wrong. We have made all the arrangements to deal with it (H1N1 virus) and have sufficient amount of medicines," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Azam Khan said.
The minister said this after the swine flu issue was raised on the assembly floor by BJP's Suresh Kumar Khanna who demanded a statement from the government on the rising cases of the disease in the state.
Mr Khanna claimed that hundreds of people have died due to the disease in UP and sought to know about the preventive measures taken by the government.
Till now, 280 persons have tested positive for H1N1 virus in UP with maximum number of 228 cases reported from the state capital Lucknow. Six deaths have been officially reported so far due to the disease.
