Delhi is all set to host the 18th G20 Summit from September 9 to September 10. The event, which will be attended by over 25 world leaders, marks the culmination of India's year-long G20 presidency.
Who are the member countries of G20?
The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises the US, UK, Russia, India, China, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Japan, Argentina, Australia, South Korea, Brazil, Canada, Turkey, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, South Africa, and the European Union.
These countries together represent around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of global trade, and around two-thirds of the world's population.
G20 Summit guest list
The G20 Summit next week is expected to witness the biggest participation in the history of the grouping. Several world leaders have confirmed that they will be reaching New Delhi to attend the G20 Summit.
The White House had earlier said that US President Joe Biden will “travel to New Delhi, India, from September 7-10 to attend the G20 Leaders' Summit”. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office too has also confirmed the leader's plan to visit India for the mega event.
Other leaders who have confirmed their participation in the summit include Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he will not be able to attend the G20 Summit adding that the country will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the summit.
Besides the heads of G20 member countries, India has also invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oman's Head of State Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
