Mumbai:

After indictment by the Pradhan Committee, set up to inquire into the lapses in the 26/11 attacks, Hasan Gafoor has been removed as Mumbai Police Commissioner and promoted as Director General Housing.

The report had some harsh words for Gafoor, which said that Gafoor should have taken command on 26/11 or at least appeared to have take command.

The Pradhan Committee had said Gafoor did not take charge on 26/11. Instead that he stationed himself outside the Trident and gave instructions from there.

The report also said that Gafoor went against the standard operating procedure laid down to deal with terror strikes. In fact, the Pradhan Committee slammed the entire police leadership for not following emergency systems.

Soon after NDTV broke the story, the Maharashtra Home Ministry had ruled out acting against Gafoor but he has been finally removes him from the hot seat.
