New Delhi: Ganesh Chaturthi 2021: Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated today, September 10. The ten-day festival is celebrated across the country with enthusiasm and fervour.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and several other political leaders wished the people of the country on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, which marks the birth of Lord Ganesh.
Ganesh Chaturthi falls in August or September and is celebrated in many states, especially Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka.
According to the Hindu calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada.
Across the country, Ganeshotsav celebrations begin today and will end after 10 days on Anant Chaturdashi, which is also called Ganesh Visarjan. On the day of Ganesh Visarjan, idols of Lord Ganesha are immersed and devotees offer prayers to Lord Ganesha.
Lord Ganesha is the Hindu god of wisdom, prosperity and fortune.

Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations On A Limited Scale In Temples Across Delhi
Delhi is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in a very low key manner as for a second consecutive year, public place celebrations and processions or gatherings related to the festival have been prohibited in Delhi due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has put a ban on festivities and urged devotees to celebrate at home. Adhering to government orders and COVID-19 protocols, temples are allowing little to no devotees.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2021: Festivities Begin In Goa, Chief Minister Greets People
The 10-day-long annual Ganesh festival began in Goa on Friday with several Hindu households bringing idols of the deity in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic which has forced the state government to impose restrictions on processions and put protocols in place to curb any spike in cases. Over the last few days, markets across the state, including in Panaji, Margao and Vasco, witnessed last minute rush to buy the essentials required for celebrating the festival.
The state government has allowed ''Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav'' (installation of idols at pandals) this year with several restrictions.
