Etawah, Uttar Pradesh:
A woman constable in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah has alleged that she has been gangraped by two uniformed policemen while on duty at a fairground.
In her complaint to the police, she said she and another policewoman were forced to get into a police car outside the fair, which was being held in Jhansi.
"They offered me a cold drink, which was spiked and I lost consciousness after drinking it. Later, they threatened me at gun-point and told me to keep shut," said the woman, who is still in hospital.
Claiming there was no security in the hospital, the woman's sister said, "We don't have parents. We need complete protection. We want justice. But what can be done when protectors become assailants?"
The woman has identified two of her assailants by their name tags. The third, she said, was a driver, who was in plainclothes.
"She was not willing to go to Jhansi out of fear, so we filed the case in our female police station," said Manjil Saini, a senior police officer in Etawah. The constable, she said, had been posted in Jhansi between September 22 and 28 for fairground duty.
