Dehradun: Gates of the famous Badrinath shrine will be closed for devotees from November 17, ending this year's 'Char Dham' yatra
The shrine's doors will be closed at 4.35 am on November 17 for winter, according to the temple officials.
The schedule for the closing of gates was declared at the temple today after the rituals and prayers on the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi.
Portals of all four shrines of the 'Char Dham' circuit Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath - are closed every year ahead of the onset of winters.
The shrine, situated in the Garhwal Himalayas, is a major pilgrimage site since the ninth century for Hindus all over the world.
The portal for Gangotri and Yamunotri, the source of the Ganga and the Yamuna River, will be closed on November 12 and 13 respectively.
