Geetika Sharma suicide case: Gopal Kanda seeks interim bail to attend assembly session

New Delhi: Former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda, an accused in airhostess Geetika Sharma's suicide case, sought interim bail from a Delhi court to attend state assembly session.

The court reserved its order on his plea after hearing arguments from his counsel and the prosecution.

Mr Kanda's counsel Ramesh Gupta said, "He (Kanda) is an MLA from Haryana and he wants to attend the assembly session for which he is seeking interim bail. He is an MLA from Sirsa which is a big constituency. Funds for his constituency are lying unutilised. Public is suffering, in the end."

Mr Kanda has been in custody for over 14 months.

Mr Gupta sought interim bail for Mr Kanda on the grounds that the police investigation in the case is complete and there is nothing left for the cops to apprehend that he might hamper the case.
