The Mumbai Police today lodged an FIR against Narsingh P. Yadav, a Commonwealth Games gold medalist wrestler-turned-Assistant Commissioner of Police, charging him of campaigning for Congress candidate Sanjay Nirupam from the Mumbai North-West seat.
An official said that the FIR was lodged against Mr Yadav, 40, in the Amboli Police Station.
On Sunday night, Mr Yadav had campaigned for Mr Nirupam in Yadavnagar area of Andheri West which falls under the Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha constituency.
Mr Yadav is likely to face a departmental enquiry for his indiscretion.
