New Delhi:
Digvijaya Singh is ill, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared Wednesday as it hit out at the Congress leader for his comments on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) backing Anna Hazare's anti-graft movement and stressed that the support was neither new nor hidden.
"Digvijaya Singh is a 'namuna' (specimen). All I will say is, Digvijaya Singhji get well soon, because this is all that can be said for someone who is ill," BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said after the Congress general secretary released a letter from an RSS leader to Hazare.
"The support was open, the statement was on their website. If the RSS is supporting the anti-corruption movement, why is Congress having a problem," Javadekar added.
The BJP leader said the letter released by Digvijaya Singh had been in the public domain for a long time.
"Wherever he goes, whatever the issue is, Digvijaya can see only RSS and BJP. Today, as if he had discovered some rocket science, he gave the proof that RSS is backing Anna Hazare," he said.
Digvijaya Singh Wednesday wrote to Hazare, attaching a letter dated April 8, 2011 to the activist by RSS general secretary Suresh 'Bhaiyya' Joshi "promising full cooperation".
The Congress leader alleged it to be the proof of the anti-corruption movement led by Hazare being backed by the RSS and the BJP.
He had written to him Tuesday as well.
