Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar slams Chidambaram over appointments of IPS officers
Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today demanded an apology from Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for what he called "unilaterally appointing IPS officers in the state and without taking the state government into confidence."

The BJP government in Goa has also started to reject the appointments of IPS officers in the state made by the Union Home Ministry.

Holding the Union Home Minister responsible for the 'mess' over appointments, Mr Parrikar said, "The behaviour of Home Ministry is sometimes as if they are the boss and states are junior to them and they have to accept. It is a master-servant relation as they think. That is not correct. It is a joint cadre and the joint cadre management authority one component is each state. There is no meeting. So I have asked for meeting and the issue will be raised.".

"State should be treated equally by the Home Minister. They have developed that syndrome of thinking that state is subordinate to them in this matter at least," he added.
