The Congress' Goa unit has removed a party functionary from its official WhatsApp group after he allegedly sent a porn clip on the instant messaging service. "I apologise for the incident. We have already removed the office-bearer from the group," Goa Congress Spokesperson Sunil Kawathankar said.
Mr Kawathankar said he is the administrator of the WhatsApp group which the party has been using to keep in touch with journalists for sending out event and press conference invites.
Mr Kawathankar said the party functionary was removed immediately from the group. He did not name the person.
People with knowledge of the matter said the Congress member who has been removed from the WhatsApp group is allegedly a former state general secretary of the Goa Congress unit.
