Goa: Mickky Pacheco arrested, conviction upheld

Panaji: Former Goa Tourism Minister Fransisco Mickey Pacheco was arrested today after his conviction in an assault case was upheld by a court.

Pacheco was sentenced to one-year imprisonment for assaulting a junior engineer of the state electricity department. Pacheco had appealed to the court to quash the sentence.

His sentence has been reduced but he still has to serve six months in jail.

Pacheco had to resign after his name surfaced in connection with the suicide case of a woman called Nadia.
