Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, who has been indicted by the Public Accounts Committee of Goa for alleged irregularities in the mining sector, now faces an internal revolt over the scam.
The Public Accounts Committee is headed by Goa's opposition leader Manohar Parrikar. In his report, Parrikar said in the last five years, iron ore worth about Rs. 3,500 crore had been exported without paying any royalty to the state government.
But after the opposition, now some members of Mr Kamat's own party have begun blaming the state government. One among them is Congress MLA Dayanand Narvekar. He has alleged that the illegal mining scam is on for the last 10 years and those who are running the mining department have allowed the system to collapse. Mr Kamat holds the mining portfolio in the state.
The report will be tabled on October 5, the first day of the legislative assembly session. It also indicts other ministers like Goa's Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao.
The report also indicts the Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik's son Roy Naik and the Goa Congress president Subhash Shirodkar
